After I finished the book, I need a couple of days to sort out how I felt about it.
For the most part I did enjoy this book but there were some parts and characters that just didn’t do it for me. There is a touch of “magic” that isn’t mentioned in the synopsis. That kind of threw me off.
I will say the characters were well written. They all did their job, whether they were good, bad, or annoying. I had trouble relating to Clover for most of the story. It could be the target audience is geared towards younger readers and not my old self. I did LOVE Poe and Cathy! I felt they carried the book with their personalities and witty banter. By the end of the story, I did like the new Clover.
The author’s writing is good and would be open to reading more from her. I give this 3 stars.
My Five Star Review of “Happier Without You”

Not sure about most people but for me one of my greatest fears is rejection. This rejection could be from someone I know such as a friend, could be someone I love and could even be for an important job. There are many forms of rejection, reasons for rejection and reasons to be afraid to put ourselves into the position of possible rejection. This story is could be a reflection of a heart breaking rejection and such rejection as a love in their life. To be told you aren’t good enough and why or to be told you aren’t loved and why would all make the feeling more easy to bare but in this case the reasons for rejection was never made clear. To be left alone by someone you loved both emotionally and sexually without any explanation is a type of horror in of itself. This story is horror just for that reason alone. I felt the anger, frustration, jealousy and confusion. I imagined the need to know more, to know why and to have closure. This was love spurned and the attempt to keep living even though your heart has but cut out. This story is about forces unseen and the thirst for revenge justly earned. Above all I felt what the writer was conveying and I imagined the tension and need for explanations. This is a tale worthy of being read by all readers and a story that most readers can make direct correlations with their own lives…just like I did several times. I really enjoy Ms. Thorn’s ability to make me feel, envision and understand what she portrays.
Fun fast read. Peter is awful, and i hoped for his death during this whole book. Loved all the other characters.
This book felt very personal. Deep seeded pain from a break-up, and how Clover managed to get through it was hard to read. That was only because it was raw. I hurt for her. This was very well done.
